Baltasar Engonga, the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) in Equatorial Guinea, has been arrested for allegedly recording over 400 sextapes featuring the wives and sisters of prominent individuals in the country, The Punch reports.
The scandal surfaced during a fraud investigation, prompting ANIF officials to search Engonga’s home and office, where they discovered numerous CDs containing the explicit footage.
The videos reportedly include encounters with high-profile figures, such as his brother’s wife, the sister of the President, and wives of around 20 government ministers. Many of the recordings were made in his office, including intimate moments captured next to the National Flag.
Engonga, known as “Bello,” has been at the center of a sexual scandal since last October, with the footage now leaked online, igniting public outrage. While the Attorney General, Nzang Nguema, stated that the videos appear to show consensual interactions, he emphasized that the law does not classify consensual acts as a crime unless coercion or violence is proven.
In response to the scandal, the Equatorial Guinean government has decided to suspend all officials involved in sexual relations within ministry offices, reinforcing its “zero tolerance” policy toward behavior that undermines public integrity.
Vice President Nguema Mangue highlighted the importance of ethics and respect in administration, asserting that irresponsible actions jeopardizing citizen trust will not be tolerated.
