The Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS), Prof. Emily Ayo-John, has encouraged participants in the 2023/2024 TETFund Entrepreneurship Intervention Training to fully engage with the skills acquisition process, highlighting its potential to provide an additional source of income. Her remarks underscored the vital role of entrepreneurship in reducing unemployment and fostering sustainable development.
Prof. Ayo-John delivered this message at the Programme’s Opening Ceremony on October 30, 2024, urging participants to leverage the training as a path to financial empowerment.
She explained that a successful entrepreneur focuses on generating revenue that exceeds costs, with effective strategies like marketing, word-of-mouth promotion, and networking. Keeping expenses low, she added, was also essential for maximising profit margins.
Expressing her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, for supporting the initiative, Prof. Ayo-John noted its benefits for both the Academic and Non-Teaching staff at the University.
The 3-Day Training Programme offers a diverse skill set, including Artistry Makeup, Video Editing and Graphics, as well as Corporate and Social Catering, equipping participants with practical expertise to succeed in their entrepreneurial pursuits.
With these skills, participants could enhance their economic opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s economic growth.
The Training is expected to end tomorrow, November 1, 2024.
