The presidency announces there will be no place for Betta Edu in President Tinubu’s cabinet, clearing up recent speculations.
The presidency has confirmed that Betta Edu, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, will not be returning to President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
Peoplesmind notes that Edu was suspended on January 8 due to widespread outrage over an alleged N585 million scandal.
Before the cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, there was speculation that the suspended minister might rejoin the government.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, announced on Sunday that “Betta Edu is gone.”
He stated that the president has appointed her successor from Plateau State.
Betta Edu has been replaced by someone from Plateau State. It seems there is currently no role for her in this government’s cabinet.
In an interview with Channels TV, he mentioned that while the EFCC has not disclosed their findings, the president’s actions suggest that they must have submitted evidence warranting the suspension.
