The news of the Federal Executive Council’s approval granting Operational Licence for the take-off of the long-awaited Ondo Deep Sea Port is more than spirit-lifting. It represents numerous positive things.
First, I must extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON and well as the good people of the State on the approval granted. This is particularly cheering and a heart-warming development, especially as one reminiscences on the BIG IDEA enunciated first, by the late former governor, Dr. Olusegun Kokumo Agagu. This dream could only have been pursued and made possible by a man of altruistic vision through shrewd determination.
PORT ONDO as christened by AKETI, is a remarkable achievement that will have a significant impact on the economy of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole. And it represents a striking moment of reprieve owing to the doggedeness and selflessness deployed in this laudable pursuit. This is a clear testament of the governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to the development of Ondo State and the riverine area, in particular.
With a chain of potentials to create thousands of jobs, boost trade and commerce, and improve the standard of living for the people of Ondo State and the host communities, this is, undoubtedly, a landmark achievement that has laid a very strong foundation for a sound economy for our people.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval of this project as a parting gift and a sweet victory for the people of Ondo State. I appreciate his support for the development of our dear state. The significant roles played by our amiable Minister of State (Transport), Prince(Hon) Ademola Adegoroye, Esq, cannot be ignored. His passion for the project was as palpable as the commitment he demonstrated since he came on board. History and posterity shall be kind to him.
And finally, congratulations to the good people of Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency for this remarkable achievement. The Ship Of Properity Has Commenced Its Sail.
