Philip Shaibu, the reinstated deputy governor of Edo State, distanced himself from Governor Godwin Obaseki’s inauguration of a new chairman and members of the Edo State Civil Service Commission, which occurred 27 days before their tenure’s end. Shaibu criticized Obaseki for failing to utilize the previous commission and relying on private consultants.
He also questioned the qualifications of the new chairman, urging appointees to be cautious of these last-minute appointments, which he referred to as “Greek gifts.” Shaibu emphasized the importance of transparency and warned against undermining due process.
