Hon. Robinson Ewoh has raised some serious questions about Nyesom Wike’s leadership and how he’s helping his own community. Wike is a powerful politician in Nigeria, but Ewoh thinks there’s a big difference between Wike’s power and how his own community is doing.
In an interview with Symfoni, Ewoh talked about Wike’s family and the place where he comes from. He said that even though Wike has a lot of power, the people close to him don’t seem to be doing well.
Ewoh said, “If you look at Wike’s background, his father had two wives, and he has siblings. As we speak, none of them can produce one million naira from anywhere.”
This means that even Wike’s own family members don’t have much money, even though Wike is a big politician.
But Ewoh didn’t stop there. He also talked about the conditions in Wike’s hometown. He pointed out that the place where Wike comes from doesn’t have many basic things that people need.
“In Wike’s own community, there are no good roads, no primary school, no health center—nothing,” Ewoh said.
This is a big deal because usually, when someone becomes a powerful leader, people expect them to help improve their hometown. But according to Ewoh, this hasn’t happened in Wike’s case.
Ewoh thinks this is a problem because good leaders should start by helping the people closest to them. He said, “Charity, they say, begins at home. If you can’t develop your own community, how can you help others?”
This is like saying, if you can’t take care of your own family and neighborhood, how can you take care of a whole state or country?
Ewoh is using these points to question why Wike wants so much power. He asks, “So, what is all this noise about power for if you can’t even help your people?”
