Bode George pleads for peace in the PDP, calling on Atiku and Wike to let the party’s elders take charge in resolving the ongoing crisis.
Bode George, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), encouraged both Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Atiku Abubakar, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, to remain calm on Wednesday.
George suggested that Atiku and Wike should let the elders of PDP discuss and address the crisis within the party, which began during the lead-up to the last presidential election.
During an appearance on Arise TV’s Morning Show, George called on the party leaders to put away their differences and let peace prevail.
George stated, “I urge the leaders of the different groups within the party to set aside their personal ambitions and focus on rebuilding our party.”
“Allow the Iroko tree to return because its tap roots remain intact, and our people abroad are inquiring about the party’s situation.”
Every organization faces crises, but what matters is our ability to rebuild from them. This particular crisis didn’t emerge overnight; it began during the Presidential convention and went unmanaged by all involved.
We were the founders of the PDP, and I will never serve under Ikimi’s committee. It’s not a matter of disrespect.
Atiku and Wike need to remain calm so we can attend the elders’ meeting. There, we’ll begin discussions to trace this crisis back to the convention, as that is where things started going awry.
