The Youth of Okpoga Community, under the umbrella of Okpoga Unity Forum (OUF) strongly condemns the recent mindless vandalism ofย the constituency office belonging to Hon. (Dr.) Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives and honourable member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, at Okpga, the Headquarters of Enone and the theft of Agricultural materials meant for Empowering the people of Okpokwu Local Government.
The mundane act, perpetrated by unknown individuals for political gains, has in no small measure, tarnished our community’s reputation and may deprive us of future privileges, if voices of reasoning are silent because Okpoga is a responsible community that values peace and development.
Although no arrests have been made, to ascertain the identity of the perpetrators, information at our disposal suggests that the hit was a political vendetta, unleashed by supposed political antagonists of the Enone Servant, and not necessarily by the innocent youths of Okpoga extraction. However, silence in the face of injustice they say, is a crime. As a body we are dismayed that some of the community youths however, watched how items meant for their fathers and mothers, were looted without bating an eyelid. As representatives of the youths of the host community to the constituency office, we wish to apologize to Hon. Philip Agbese, for this unacceptable act, while assuring him of our maximum cooperation to prevent such incidents from happening again.
We encourage him to continue his selfless services to humanity and community development, as we are committed to supporting him actualize his people oriented policies.
We wish to also encourage further empowerment programs to take place in Okpoga, as it is now a safe place with maximum security, to ensure the safety of lives and properties.
We are not oblivious of the fact that the unfortunate incident may instill fear and contempt in Hon. Agbese towards our people, and may prevent him from embarking on similar projects in the future. This is evident in some of the submissions on the media, which suggests that his recently hosted IT Empowerment Project for Enone youths, worth hundreds of millions of Naira, was held in Otukpo, outside of the Enone Constituency, for fear of the valuables been looted by political miscreants as was done to the agricultural incentives, just to thwart the efforts of the representative.
We commend Hon. Philip Agbese, for his visionary and exceptional leadership, infrastructural development, and empowerment initiatives in Enone constituency.
We appreciate him for the ongoing renovation of the Okpokwu Township Stadium and the appointment of our sons and daughters as members of the renovation monitoring committee, as well as the very thoughful gesture of immortalizing our late political juggernaut and gladiator, Late Chief Obande Obeya of the blessed Memory, by naming the stadium in his honour, upon completion of renovation.
We wish to encourage Hon. Agbese to continue serving Enone to the best of his ability, with the youthful energy, vigour and pragmatic leadership, which he is demonstrating as our representative in the 10th National Assembly.
