The Labour Party (LP) has formally submitted its list of candidates for the 2024 Chairmanship and Councillorship elections to the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC). The submission was confirmed on October 4, 2024, through a letter signed by Hon. Ceekay Igara, Chairman of the Abia State Local Government Chairmanship and Councillorship Election Committee, and Prince G.O. Ndubueze, Secretary of the committee.
The letter stated that the list includes candidates who emerged victorious during the party’s primaries, as previously communicated. The document was officially received by ABSIEC, signaling the Labour Party’s readiness to participate in the upcoming local elections.
This submission is a significant step toward LP’s participation in the grassroots elections, with hopes of gaining key positions across Abia State.
According to the list of candidates for umuahia north cited by newsmen, Kingsley Chinaemeze Okonkwo name was submitted as Chairman while Fidelix Iheanacho Akwukwaegbu is the Deputy.
