Edo Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy Governor-elect, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, yesterday presented their Certificates of Return to the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II.
In his brief address, Senator Opkebholo, who was accompanied at the visit to the Benin throne by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former deputy governors of the state, 2020 APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Senator Matthew Urhonigbe, and others said he was at the palace to formally present his certificate of return to the monarch.
He commended the Oba for his prayers and support which according to the Governor-elect led to his election victory at the just conducted Edo State gubernatorial poll in the state.
Responding, Oba Ewuare II, thanked the people for the visit and advised the Governor-elect not to fail on his campaign promises to the people, stating that God Almighty works in a mysterious way.
The Oba of Benin used the occasion to formally congratulate the duo of Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa on the election victory, and assuring them that his palace is open to them.
The traditional ruler also thanked God Almighty and his ancestors, including security agencies and President Bola Tinubu for the peaceful poll held on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 in Edo State.
“God works in a mysterious way. As you have said to me remember this Palace is open to you.
“You will do your best to carry out the promises you made during your campaigns more to the admiration of all and more blessings will come”, the Royal father said.
The monarch assured that he would continue to pray without ceasing, ahead of the forthcoming Emoro also known as New Yam festival, and his 8th Coronation Anniversary.
