Tinubu Will Serve Another 4 Years After His First Term, Accept His Shortcomings, Osoba Assures Nigerians
Former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has urged Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu despite any perceived shortcomings in his leadership. Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South West Zone Assembly in Lagos, Osoba emphasized that Tinubu’s presidency represents a collective achievement for the Yoruba people and that his leadership should be seen as a continuation of their long quest for national prominence.
Osoba explained that Tinubu’s rise to the presidency was the result of a deliberate effort by South West leaders dating back to 2007, when they decided that Tinubu should transition from state politics in Lagos to the national stage. He emphasized that while Tinubu is not without flaws, Nigerians should support him through this first term, as Osoba confidently predicted that Tinubu will serve another four years after his current tenure.
The former governor recalled historical efforts to elevate Yoruba leaders to national positions, including the failed bids of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and MKO Abiola, both of whom were prevented from achieving their presidential aspirations. However, Osoba noted that Tinubu’s presidency marks a victory for the Yoruba people, and they should continue to support him wholeheartedly.
In his message, Osoba asked Nigerians to be patient and allow Tinubu time to address the nation’s challenges. He also underscored that Tinubu’s leadership will ultimately benefit the country, as his tenure progresses and he prepares for another term.
