President Bola Tinubu is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet, according to a statement from the Presidency. Find out what this could mean for the administration and key ministries.
President Bola Tinubu has indicated his intention to reorganize his cabinet.
This information was confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, during a briefing with State House reporters on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Onanuga emphasized that, contrary to some perceptions, the current administration has achieved notable progress in its efforts to revitalize the economy, much of which remains unknown to the public.
He further stated that Tinubu has instructed his ministers to actively engage with the public by disseminating information about the government’s initiatives within their respective ministries.
He remarked, βI do not have a specific timeline. The President has conveyed his intention to reshuffle his cabinet, and this will take place. I cannot confirm whether it will occur before October 1, but it will certainly happen.β
Elaborating on the rationale behind Tinubuβs decision, Oβtega Ogra, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Strategy Engagement and Communications, explained that it is grounded in empirical evidence.
Ogra pointed out that during a retreat held for the ministers shortly after their inauguration in August 2023, Tinubu made it clear that there would be regular assessments of their performance, and these evaluations would inform the Presidentβs decisions.
