A man identified as Aliu was shot and attacked with a machete by unknown gunmen while riding a borrowed motorcycle near Idufe village in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday. The assailants also made away with the motorcycle.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the attack, stating that Aliu was on his way to visit his family in Iwoye when the gunmen struck.
According to Odutola, the incident was reported to the Imeko-Afon Police Division by one Kugbukin Kolawole, who had lent Aliu the motorcycle.
Kolawole recounted, āAliu borrowed my motorcycle, saying he was heading to Iwoye to see his family. Less than 10 minutes later, I heard gunshots. A neighbor rushed to inform me that Aliu was drenched in blood with machete wounds, and the motorcycle had been stolen by the attackers.ā
Aliu was rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the motorcycleās documents have been submitted to the police for further investigation.
