In a heartfelt and passionate statement, Fada Ebube Muonso has called for the resignation of his state governor who is unable to protect the citizens under his governance. His remark comes amidst rising insecurity in the state, where countless people have lost their lives, and many others have been abducted.
Fada Muonso recounted a troubling series of events, including the kidnapping of a retired bishop, the brutal killing of a priest, and the abduction of another priest, who is a personal friend. Despite his best efforts to secure the release of the kidnapped cleric, Muonso revealed that both the state governor and the commissioner of police failed to take any meaningful action.
In his pursuit of justice, Muonso turned to another stateβs governor for assistance. The governor provided his stateβs security resources, allowing them to track the kidnappers and attempt to locate the priest. However, the operation was halted as the incident occurred outside the governorβs jurisdiction, highlighting a frustrating limitation in the security response.
Determined to take action, Muonso then presented the gathered intelligence to the police in his home state. However, he faced further disappointment when officers expressed fear of venturing into the bush and even requested money for mobilization, which he provided. Yet, no progress was made.
Fada Muonso, in a final show of defiance, expressed his willingness to personally lead a team into the bush to rescue the kidnapped priest. He concluded with a powerful statement: βResign now if you cannot protect the people you are governing!β
