The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, led by Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin, granted bail to Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, and Abdullahi Fasasi, who were involved in a stampede during a children’s party in December 2024.
Oriyomi was granted N10 million bail and required to provide two sureties, with a condition that his radio station must not broadcast the news. The defendants were arrested in connection with the stampede, which resulted in at least 35 children’s deaths.
The Oyo State Attorney General opposed the bail applications, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges. Governor Seyi Makinde has insisted on a trial for the accused but expressed no objection to their bail.
