Nigeria’s opposition parties are raising concerns over the government’s disbursement of N4 billion to vulnerable households, with fears that it could be misappropriated or distributed unfairly.
The funds, announced by the Federal Government to assist displaced households, are part of broader efforts to alleviate the nation’s humanitarian crisis. However, opposition leaders, including the Peoples Democratic Partyās Timothy Osadolor and the New Nigeria Peoples Partyās Ladipo Johnson, have questioned the transparency of the process, citing past instances of palliative mismanagement.
They urge the government to ensure that the aid reaches those in need, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation.
Meanwhile, the government stresses its commitment to targeting the most vulnerable populations, particularly in conflict-affected regions like the Northeast.
