Ahead of Saturday’s local government election in Ondo State, the Nigerian Police have announced a restriction on vehicular and motorcycle movement during the polling period.
According to CSP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer, the restriction will be enforced from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm as part of security measures to ensure a smooth and peaceful election.
Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi emphasized that individuals planning to disrupt the election should reconsider, as the police will deal firmly with any offenders.
Essential workers, including security personnel, healthcare providers, firefighters, and other emergency responders, are exempted from the restriction to enable them to carry out their duties.
Commuters intending to use the state as a transit route have been advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
