North Korea conducted a long-range missile test, launching an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) that traveled over 1,100 kilometers before landing in the sea, coinciding with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to South Korea.
Blinken stressed the importance of U.S., South Korea, and Japan’s collaboration, including real-time missile data sharing and joint drills, to counter Pyongyang’s growing threat. He also raised concerns about North Korea’s ties with Russia, suggesting technology exchanges in return for military support in Ukraine.
This test follows North Korea’s recent advancements in solid-fuel missile technology, which is harder to detect and more maneuverable. The launch marks the first since North Korea’s November tests of short-range ballistic missiles.
