The Federal Fire Service reported that in 2024, Nigeria lost 100 lives and properties worth ā¦67.1 billion to fire outbreaks, while saving 30,890 lives and properties worth ā¦1.94 trillion.
Controller General Abdulganiyu Jaji attributed many incidents to negligence and urged adherence to safety regulations, especially during the harmattan season when fire risks are higher. He emphasized caution for fuel station operators, gas plant operators, and the public to prevent avoidable disasters.
Looking ahead to 2025, the service plans to enhance public safety, response times, and operational efficiency through awareness campaigns and advanced technologies like the National Fire Detection and Alarm System.
Jaji reaffirmed the agencyās commitment to its mandate, prioritizing public trust and improved fire safety outcomes.
