-Adewale Oyerinde, Director General of NECA, stated that all 36 states in Nigeria have no valid reason not to implement the newly signed N70,000 minimum wage.
-Oyerinde emphasized that the Federal Government has increased state allocations, making funds available for states to meet the new wage obligation.
-The N70,000 minimum wage law, signed in July 2024, raised wages from N30,000, and Oyerinde stressed that this wage increase is now a legal reality.
-Oyerinde dismissed the claim that states lack the funds to pay the new wage, pointing out that financial support from the Federal Government has been sufficient.
-If state governors refuse to comply, Oyerinde warned that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) would alter their strategies to ensure payment of the new minimum wage.
