An officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, was injured during a confrontation with suspected drug dealers in Bebeji Local Government Area.
The suspects, Musa Usman, 25, and Buhari Yaāu Bashir, 24, were arrested during a January 20 operation at Rahama Roundabout. NDLEA Public Relations Officer Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari disclosed that the raid uncovered 1.1 kilograms of cannabis sativa, eight grams of diazepam (38 tablets), and 59 grams of Exol (165 tablets).
The altercation turned violent when Musa Usman, armed with a dagger, stabbed an officer while resisting arrest.
State Commander Abubakar Idris Ahmad condemned the attack, stating, āSuch actions will not deter us from eradicating drug abuse and trafficking.ā
The suspects remain in custody and face charges for drug offences and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
