Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, has demanded a public apology and retraction from content creator Olufunke Ayokunle for sharing an old video of her dancing, which was falsely linked to her recent release on bail following a deadly stampede in Ibadan.
Naomi’s legal team, led by Musibau Adetunbi, SAN, accuses Ayokunle of malicious intent, stating the video, originally recorded in 2022, caused unwarranted public backlash. rominent figures, including Joe Igbokwe and Reuben Abati, were misled into criticizing Naomi as unsympathetic toward the victims’ families.
The legal team has demanded Ayokunle retract the video, issue a public apology, and pay N50 million in damages within seven days, threatening legal action for non-compliance. Naomi maintains that the post was ill-timed and has caused her emotional distress and reputational damage.
