The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) is facing internal conflict over the allocation of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses meant for higher institutions across the country.
A faction of the student body has accused NANS President Lucky Emonefe and Senate President Babatunde Akinteye Afeez of favoritism in the distribution process. The group, which has passed a vote of no confidence on the two leaders, claims the allocation lacks transparency and equity.
In a petition addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other key stakeholders, the faction urged urgent intervention to prevent unrest and called for an investigation into the distribution process. They also demanded the immediate redistribution of the buses to ensure fairness and accountability.
The petition highlighted the economic impact of unequal distribution, noting that many students rely on affordable transportation to navigate campus life. The group warned that the issue could harm the credibility of NANS and the political integrity of the current administration.
