The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has commended the high-quality work on the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti, describing its runway as world-class.
During his visit to the airport on Monday evening, Keyamo highlighted the facility’s readiness for operations. He noted that all necessary standards for a functional airport had been met. However, he announced that only non-scheduled flights would be permitted for the first six months to align with global best practices.
“This is standard procedure worldwide—to begin with non-scheduled flights, testing the facilities before allowing large-scale commercial operations. The quality of the runway here can rival any in the world,” he said.
Keyamo emphasized the airport’s potential to support Ekiti’s thriving agribusiness sector and expressed confidence in its ability to compete with similar facilities globally.
The minister was welcomed by top state officials, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Oyeniyi Adebayo, and other key stakeholders. His visit follows the recent calibration of landing equipment at the airport by the National Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
