Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has announced plans to distribute N3 billion in relief funds to victims of the recent flood disaster in the state.
The announcement was made during the 23rd State Executive Council meeting at the Kano Government House. According to Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, the funds are part of a Federal Government intervention grant to states affected by the 2024 floods, including the Federal Capital Territory.
Governor Yusuf explained that while the funds had been received months ago, they were held in reserve to ensure transparency and accountability in identifying the legitimate victims. Now that the list of affected individuals is complete, distribution will begin shortly.
The governor also revealed that main and sub-committees have been set up to manage the distribution process across all 44 local government areas, ensuring the funds reach those truly impacted by the floods.
Yusuf emphasized the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the funds, ensuring they are used effectively to alleviate the suffering of flood victims and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
