The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned former Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro to withdraw from the upcoming Ohanaeze Ndigbo presidential election, emphasizing that the position is zoned to Igbos in Rivers State, not Imo State.
IPOB accused influential figures in the Imo State government of backing Okiro’s candidacy to undermine Igbo unity and disrupt the organization’s cohesion. The Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF) also cautioned against Okiro’s imposition, stressing the need for a transparent process that respects Ohanaeze’s zoning structure.
IPOB vowed to resist any attempts to manipulate the election and warned that those responsible would be held accountable. The group called on Ohanaeze to operate independently, free from political interference, and uphold its constitution to ensure fairness and unity.
