The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Rivers State Command, has apprehended 90 suspected illegal immigrants involved in cybercrimes targeting Nigerians.
Working alongside other security agencies, the NIS arrested the suspects at their hideout in Rivers State.
State Comptroller YI Abdulmajeed revealed that 94 individuals were detained during the operation. Profiling identified 85 Cameroonians, five Chadians, and four Nigerians among them, with 74 males and 20 females.
Abdulmajeed stated that all 90 foreigners entered Nigeria through unauthorized routes and lacked valid residence permits or travel documents.
Additionally, two Nigerians who provided accommodation to the suspects were also arrested.
The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed the repatriation of the foreigners to their respective countries.
