In a recent appearance on Symfoni TV, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo recently expressed his deep admiration for Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, referring to him as “my master” and acknowledging his significant influence on the governance of Edo State.
Monday Okpebholo began by stating, “I can stand anywhere, Your Excellency, my leader, my father, my brother, my everything. The former Governor of Edo State, my father, whom we share a lot in common,” signaling the strong connection and shared goals between the two.
In his remarks, Monday also recalled an experience with his elderly aunt, who is 98 years old, during a visit to their village. “I want to thank the number one leader in both parties, She said that governance used to be that way, so please put [Applause],” further underlining the appreciation for Wike’s governance style.
Okpebholo also took the opportunity to praise Wike’s contributions to infrastructure development, especially in the capital city, Abuja. He recalled how, prior to Wike’s intervention, accessing key areas of the capital city, such as the Apo region, was a challenge. “I remember when you had to go to Apo, you would be looking for roads. How do you get there?” Monday noted.
He went on to highlight the dramatic transformation that Wike had brought to Abuja, saying, “One bridge that was supposed to link you to our B is not there, it’s not connected. Overnight, this man came to transform Abuja.”
