The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that Dr. Murtala Sale-Dandashire, a medical doctor shot during an attack at Kankara General Hospital, is alive and receiving treatment.
Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Aliyu clarified on Wednesday that reports of the doctor’s death, which had circulated widely on social media, were false.
“The news claiming that a medical doctor was shot dead at Kankara General Hospital is not true,” Aliyu stated, confirming that Dr. Sale-Dandashire is currently being treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina.
The attack, carried out by terrorists, also resulted in the abduction of three individuals.
Aliyu assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the attackers and rescue the kidnapped victims.
