The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed that it received 573,519 applications for 3,927 vacancies during its recently concluded 2024/2025 recruitment exercise, just a week after the application portal was launched.
This surge follows the announcement by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Olawale Edun, approving the recruitment of 3,927 officers into the NCS.
Providing an update, NCS spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada detailed the breakdown of applications:
General Duty (Superintendent Cadre): 249,218 applications
Support Staff (Superintendent Cadre with HNDs/University Degrees): 27,722 applications
General Duty (Inspector Cadre with NCE/National Diploma): 115,634 applications
Support Staff (Inspector Cadre): 12,952 applications
General Duty (Customs Assistants with Secondary School Certificates): 153,593 applications
Support Staff (Customs Assistants): 14,400 applications
Maiwada emphasized the overwhelming interest across all categories, reflecting the keen competition for limited positions in the agency.
