The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a major boost for the African Nations Championship (CHAN), increasing the winner’s prize to $3.5 million—up 75% from the previous amount.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe emphasized that the tournament is crucial for the development of Africa-based football players and will enhance the global competitiveness of African football. This move is part of a broader strategy to invest in and grow the appeal of African football.
Seventeen countries have qualified for the CHAN, which will take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda .
