In a significant security operation, Nigerian security agencies have dismantled a notorious criminal camp in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, recovering 19 undetonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The joint task force, comprising the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Anambra Vigilante Group, launched the raid following credible intelligence reports. The camp, concealed within Owa Land’s dense bush, was identified as a hub for orchestrating attacks and harboring kidnapping victims.
The operation commenced with a fierce gunfight, leading to the suspects fleeing under heavy fire. In addition to the IEDs, several makeshift structures used by the criminals were destroyed. The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Nnaghe Obono Itam, lauded the synergy between security agencies and the community.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly. The successful operation underscores the commitment of Nigerian security forces to rooting out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of citizens in Anambra State.
