The Niger State Police have arrested 27-year-old Fatima Dzuma for allegedly murdering her 25-year-old husband, Baba Aliyu, in Lafiyagi Dzwafu village, Katcha Local Government Area.
The incident occurred during preparations for the naming ceremony of Aliyu’s child with his first wife. Fatima, married to Aliyu for three years as his second wife, reportedly confessed to the crime after her husband’s body was found in a nearby bush three days after he was declared missing.
State Police spokesperson, Abiodun Wasiu, revealed that Fatima admitted to hitting her husband with a pestle while he slept, tying him up with cloth and rope, and disposing of the body in a bush.
In her statement, Fatima cited frequent domestic disputes and physical abuse as the motive. She detailed the events, explaining how she waited for Aliyu to fall asleep after a heated altercation, then struck him multiple times and dragged his body into the bush after wrapping it in a mat.
Initially denying knowledge of his whereabouts, Fatima confessed when confronted by the police. She remains in custody as investigations continue.
