Graduates urged to collect their certificates as a Nigerian university implements a weekly fine policy. Learn how to avoid penalties.
The University of Ilorin, a prominent federal institution, has urged its graduates at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to promptly collect their unclaimed certificates.
A memorandum issued on December 18 cited the growing number of uncollected certificates as the impetus for this announcement.
Registrar M.A. Alfanla stated that graduates must retrieve their certificates by Friday, January 17, 2025, after which a penalty of ₦3,000 will be charged for each week of delay.
The university management emphasized the importance of adhering to this deadline, warning that failure to comply will result in additional fines.
To ensure a seamless collection process, graduates are advised to present necessary documents, including proof of payment for convocation, the original Statement of Results, their Student Identification Card, and any other pertinent materials.
