Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu criticized the Nigerian police for arresting lawyer Dele Farotimi in a manner akin to a terrorist abduction, taking him from Lagos to Ekiti by road.
Speaking during a Space hosted by Omoyele Sowore, Yesufu warned that such oppression by authorities could lead to further government clampdowns on citizens. Farotimi, who pleaded not guilty to 14 amended charges in the Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court, remains in custody as his bail ruling was adjourned to December 20, 2024.
Nationwide calls for his release persist, with his legal team challenging the defamation suit filed by Afe Babalola (SAN).
