The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intensified its crackdown on unregistered food products with a recent raid at Apongbon Oke Arin Market, Lagos. Acting on a tip-off, NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate stormed a warehouse suspected of housing illegal food items.
During the operation, various unregistered products with a staggering value of N3,818,802,720 were confiscated. The facility has since been placed on hold, and the warehouse management has been summoned for questioning. The agency confirmed that appropriate sanctions would be implemented once investigations are concluded.
NAFDAC emphasized its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring strict compliance with regulatory standards. They also urged Nigerians to be extra vigilant during the festive season and report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
This operation serves as a reminder of the agency’s dedication to protecting consumers from unsafe products, especially during a period when the demand for food items is high.
