A review of Lagos State’s Q3 2024 budget performance report revealed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration spent **₦9 billion** in the third quarter alone to purchase “backup utility buses and official vehicles” for the 40 state lawmakers.
Cumulatively, ₦13.33 billion, or 32.8% of the Assembly’s total budget, was spent on vehicles between January and September 2024.
In contrast, critical sectors like mass education and higher institutions, including Lagos State University, received zero funding despite budget allocations for projects such as upgrading vocational centers, university renovations, and accreditation exercises. The report also highlighted that LASU and the Lagos State College of Health Technology, which collectively had ₦8.77 billion allocated for projects, saw no funds released for these purposes in Q1–Q3.
