The Edo State Police Command has arrested Theophilus Osazuwa, a 35-year-old resident of Ogbeson Quarters off Benin-Agbor Road, for the alleged murder of his 4-year-old son, Testimony Osazuwa.
The tragic incident occurred on December 24, 2024, around 12:30 pm. Witnesses reported that Osazuwa returned home screaming “Holy Ghost fire” before violently slamming his young son against a wall. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Osazuwa, notorious for consuming illicit substances such as “colos” and “ice,” was likely under the influence during the incident. His erratic behavior has raised concerns about the devastating effects of substance abuse within communities.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Umoru P. Ozigi, condemned the heartbreaking incident and used the opportunity to warn the public, especially youths, about the dangers of drug abuse. He emphasized that such substances not only harm the consumer’s health but also pose a significant threat to the safety of those around them.
Authorities are conducting further investigations, and Osazuwa remains in police custody. The Edo State Police Command urged residents to report suspicious behaviors linked to drug abuse to prevent future tragedies.

Drug abuse destroys lives, families, and communities. Avoid illicit substances and seek help to overcome addiction for a safer, healthier society.
