Former Kaduna Governor El-Rufai addresses claims of Yoruba favoritism in Tinubu’s appointments, emphasizing fairness in governance.
The former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has responded to allegations made by Nigerian journalism professor Farooq Kperogi regarding ethnic favoritism in President Bola Tinubu’s appointments.
In his article titled “Tinubu’s Buharisation of the NNPC,” Kperogi accused President Tinubu of favoring Yoruba individuals for significant roles within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
He mentioned an unnamed source suggesting that Bayo Ojulari is being considered for the position of Group Managing Director following Mele Kyari’s term.
Kperogi also highlighted the previous administration’s tendency to favor the North in appointments.
In his response on X, El-Rufai emphasized that two wrongs do not justify each other, advocating for sensible inclusion rather than what he termed arrogant exclusion.
