The Lagos State High Court sentenced Harry Uyanwanne and Oluwakemi Odemuyiwa (Kristein Uyanwanne) to 16 years in prison for defrauding individuals of N52 million through their church, Temple International Church.
-Justice Mojisola Dada ordered the deregistration and closure of Temple International Church, citing its misuse of religion to defraud people.
-The couple faced seven charges: stealing, dishonest conversion, and fraud. The prosecution, led by the EFCC, presented five witnesses and proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
-As part of the judgment, the convicts were directed to pay N31 million in restitution to the nominal complainant within 60 days.
-The EFCC revealed that the couple dishonestly converted N10 million from a late individual’s estate and sold a property for N42 million under pretenses, violating multiple laws.
