Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has won the election for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency. According to Peoplesmind, Dumelo, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), successfully defeated the incumbent Lydia Alhassan from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The parliamentary election took place during the general elections on December 7, 2024, where Dumelo secured victory with 40,561 votes compared to Alhassan’s 27,377.
It is noteworthy that Dumelo previously ran for this seat in 2020 but lost to Alhassan by a narrow margin.
Since beginning his acting career in 1991 while still a student, Dumelo has featured in numerous films across both Gollywood and Nollywood.
