The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced planned power outages in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday and Sunday due to maintenance work on transmission lines. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
In a statement released on Saturday, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, explained that the outages are necessary to enhance service delivery. She detailed the schedule, stating that Gwagwalada and surrounding areas will experience a power outage on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as engineers perform maintenance on a 60MVA power transformer and its associated switchgears at the Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.
On Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., another maintenance exercise will occur at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation. This will affect power supply in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.
Mrs. Mbah appealed for understanding, emphasizing that the maintenance is crucial for optimizing power equipment performance.
The statement reads:
“TCN wishes to inform the public of planned maintenance work at two transmission substations.
“On Saturday, December 28, 2024, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., maintenance will take place at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation, resulting in a power outage in Gwagwalada and environs.
“On Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., maintenance will be conducted on one of the 60MVA transformers at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation, affecting power supply in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.”
TCN apologized for the inconvenience caused during this festive period, stressing the importance of the exercise for reliable power delivery.
