In a recent video on Channels Television, Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, issued a sharp critique of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), specifically targeting the leadership under the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum. Speaking candidly, Wike expressed concern that the PDP had “never had it this bad in terms of leadership.” He referenced Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who currently chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, as emblematic of what he sees as a broader failure in the party’s direction and leadership.
Wike emphasized that effective leadership goes beyond words and requires decisive action, saying, “Leadership is not by mouth. It’s not by talking; it’s by action.” According to Wike, leaders must focus on substantial, results-driven measures rather than speeches and promises. He contrasted today’s leadership with previous leadership that spanned both northern and southern regions, claiming that this geographical balance fostered unity and purpose within the party.
According to him, “Let me tell you, PDP has never had it this bad in terms of leadership, particularly from the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum. And I knew it would be so. That’s Bala Mohammed, of course. Of course. Let me tell you, leadership is not by mouth. It’s not by talking; it’s by action.”
“It’s not tomorrow you’re going to blame… How do you know people are treacherous? When he finished as the Chairman of the PDP Governor’s Forum, we had done it North and South. I went to Bauchi and took away the chairmanship of the Governor’s Forum of PDP to the North.”
