The Nigeria Super Eagles touched down at the Obong Victor Attah International Airport on Friday, after securing a 1-1 draw in Benin Republic. The 3-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions are one of the 15 teams already qualified for the finals and will face Rwanda in their final match of the ongoing series on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
Coach Augustine Eguavoen has excused Stanley Nwabali and Ola Aina from the squad for the final game. Nwabali, who tragically lost his father less than 24 hours after their draw with Benin, will not be part of the lineup. Aina’s reason for withdrawal has not been publicly disclosed, though both players will not be part of the team as they prepare for their upcoming fixture.
Rwanda, the opponents for the final match, have already arrived in Nigeria, setting the stage for a highly anticipated encounter.
