According to Nigerian Tribune, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has come under fire for his recent remarks on Nigeria’s economy, particularly his statement that President Bola Tinubu’s government lacks solutions to the nation’s financial woes.
In a public statement, Ayodele described Nigeria’s economic situation as “hypertensive” and warned that conditions would only worsen unless the government enacted a fundamental economic reset.
Ayodele’s assertions have not gone unnoticed. Satguru Maharaj Ji, the founder of the One Love Family, has called for the cleric to stop making prophecies of doom that target governments and politicians.
Maharaj Ji expressed his concerns in a statement released on Friday by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, in response to Ayodele’s comments about the President’s inability to address Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Ayodele’s statement, made public through a signed media release, read: “This government will only work, but they don’t have a solution. Things will be getting difficult until they restart the economy again. I pity Nigerians because they will continue to face this till when God knows.”
The cleric went further to assert that both President Tinubu and his economic team knew they had no concrete solution to the country’s financial issues, adding, “There is serious hardship, they need another formula to reset the economy.”
Such statements from Ayodele, particularly his repeated prophecies of doom, have drawn sharp criticism from Maharaj Ji, who has been an advocate for peace, unity, and progress. Maharaj Ji’s spokesperson condemned the constant predictions of disaster as not only ungodly but also contrary to the principles of human unity and peace.
“The constant prophesying of doom and disaster by Primate Ayodele is, to say the least, ungodly, against the doctrines of the Nucleus Culture of Alajobi, and acceptable tenets of humanity,” the statement said.
It also reminded the public of Maharaj Ji’s 1990 declaration banning predictions of doom, emphasizing that such prophecies are detrimental to the collective well-being of society.
The statement continued, criticizing Ayodele for his “catastrophic” predictions and warnings of violence.
“One wonders how a man of God can be prophesying catastrophic events always and warning of gunshots,” it said.
According to Maharaj Ji’s followers, the teachings of religious texts like the Bible and the Quran emphasize peace, unity, and the power of divine intervention in resolving crises.
“Men of God, both in the Doctored Bible and even the holy Koran, are known to follow the God of peace, unity, love and happiness, The Essence.”
Maharaj Ji further suggested that Ayodele’s prophecies were politically motivated and could be seen as a deliberate attempt to destabilize both the government and the people.
“It is clear that it is a personal, politically motivated opinion by a man of God, being used by marine forces to destabilize the people and government and the people from the path of greatness,” the statement argued.
According to Maharaj Ji’s camp, Ayodele’s actions reflect a neo-colonialist agenda aimed at inciting unrest and ultimately leading the country into chaos.
The One Love Family leader labeled this behavior as “treason,” stating that Ayodele’s past prophecies, which have not come to pass, are evidence that his messages are neither divine nor helpful.
The backlash from Maharaj Ji has not been limited to just the content of Ayodele’s prophecies, but also their broader implications for the Nigerian populace.
“How can you be saying that to the President of your country? How do you want the people of the world to believe in him?” the statement questioned.
Maharaj Ji suggested that such public disparagement of the President only serves to erode trust in leadership and undermine efforts to build a stable and prosperous nation.
“This statement by you is demeaning to the President. You deserve to be taught a lesson of your life in order to stop this demonic behaviour,” the statement concluded.
