The Nigeria Police Force has finally broken silence over the continuous incarceration of a whistleblower, Nnamdi Emeh, who was arrested nearly two years ago.
The 26-year-old man was arrested and detained by the Nigeria Police Force after reportedly exposing alleged extortion, extrajudicial executions, torture, and organ harvesting by senior officers in Anambra State.
Upon his arrest, the Nigeria Police accused the suspect of being in possession of firearms, defamation of character, money laundering, and unlawful transfer of N47 million from someoneβs account to another account.
According to reports, his release warrant was signed on May 15, 2024, by court officials but some police personnel allegedly frustrated his freedom.
Clearing the air on Saturday night, the police in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Emeh was yet to meet his bail conditions.
The police insisted that Emeh was lawfully apprehended following credible allegations against him, stating that the allegations were thoroughly investigated and presented before a competent court of law.
