Deputy Governor Philip Idahosa reveals how Adams Oshiomhole resisted his son’s appointment as commissioner in Edo State. Read more.
Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has refuted claims of nepotism regarding the appointment of Cyril Oshiomhole, the son of former governor and ex-APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, as the state’s Commissioner for Health.
In an interview with Channels Television, Idahosa stated that Adams Oshiomhole actually opposed his son’s nomination, countering public speculation that the appointment was a result of his father’s political influence.
The nomination, made by Governor Monday Okpebholo shortly after his inauguration on November 12, raised concerns about potential state capture.
However, Idahosa emphasized that the decision was based on merit and the administration’s dedication to enhancing Edo State’s health sector, asserting that Cyril’s qualifications as a skilled medical doctor were the primary factors in his appointment.
He clarified that being the son of a prominent politician does not disqualify Cyril from serving in a role for which he is competent.
