AN APPEAL TO THE LEADERS OF APC TO ENDORSE BARR. ALABA ENIOLA AJIPE AS THE PARTY’S CANDIDATE IN OWO FOR THE FORTHCOMING LG ELECTION
Distinguished Leaders,
I humbly write to you, not only as a dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but also as someone who has significantly contributed to the growth and success of our great party. Notably, I had the privilege of serving as the Councilor for Uso/Emure-Ile Ward 11 from August 2020 to August 2023, leaving behind a legacy that continues to strengthen the APC’s presence in our communities. Having been actively involved in grassroots politics for many years, I feel compelled to address an issue of paramount importance concerning the forthcoming Local Government Elections.
Local governments, as the closest tier of governance to the people, play a critical role in delivering inclusive and transformative leadership, which remains a key commitment of our party. It is essential to emphasise that governance at the local level was established to foster active participation and equitable representation, particularly for underserved communities. I commend Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and our party for prioritising this vision by initiating preparations for the elections in Ondo State’s 18 LGs
Permit me to briefly digress to congratulate our esteemed leaders and members on the resounding success of the recent gubernatorial election. This landslide victory, which reaffirmed Governor Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, mni, as our state’s leaders until 2029, is a testament to our unity, hard work, and the growing acceptance of APC across Ondo State. The people have spoken, and their overwhelming support signals their trust in our party’s ability to deliver.
However, as we approach the Local Government Elections, I wish to draw your attention to the importance of inclusivity in selecting our candidates. In this regard, I appeal to our party leaders, particularly in Owo Local Government, to endorse Barr. Alaba Eniola Ajipe as the next Chairman of the local government.
While I hold the utmost respect for other aspirants, I strongly believe that Barr. Alaba Ajipe stands out as the most deserving candidate, for the following reasons:
1. *Loyalty and Commitment*: As the pioneer Secretary of APC in Owo, Barr. Ajipe contributed significantly to building the foundation of the party. He has also in this light consistently demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the party. Despite the disappointment of being shortchanged, being the most favoured aspirant by party delegates and members during the last local government primary of our party under Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu of blessed memory, Barr. Ajipe remained steadfast in his dedication to the party’s ideals and objectives.
2. *Representation and Fairness*: Barr. Ajipe hails from Emure-Ile, a community that has consistently supported APC in every election since 2015. Despite its contributions, Emure-Ile is the only community in Owo that has never been given the opportunity to produce a Local Government Chairman. Supporting Barr. Ajipe would not only ensure fairness but also validate our party’s commitment to inclusive representation.
3. *Grassroots Impact*: In the just-concluded gubernatorial election, Emure-Ile and Uso – where Barr. Ajipe is a prominent leader – delivered the highest number of votes for APC in Owo Local Government. This reflects his influence and the trust his community places in him.
4. *Competence and Vision*: Beyond his grassroots connections, Barr. Ajipe possesses the qualifications, experience, and vision required to lead Owo Local Government effectively. His educational background and deep understanding of local administration make him the ideal candidate to drive impactful governance at the grassroots level.
As a committed member of our great party, I implore you to consider these points and endorse Barr. Alaba Eniola Ajipe as the APC candidate for Owo Local Government Chairman. Your decision will not only reward loyalty and dedication but also strengthen our party’s position in future elections.
