Ogun State allocates N2.64 billion for gratuity payments to retired local government employees, showcasing its commitment to pensioners’ welfare.
The Ogun State Government, via the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, has allocated N2.6 billion in gratuities to retired Public Primary School Teachers and Local Government retirees for the fourth quarter of 2024.
Olufisan Osiyale, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Local Government Pensions, disclosed this information during a meeting at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Wednesday.
He emphasized that this initiative reflects Governor Abiodun’s commitment to supporting senior citizens, particularly in light of current economic challenges.
Osiyale expressed gratitude for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s exceptional dedication to the welfare of the populace, asserting that those who have served faithfully deserve proper care in their later years.
He encouraged beneficiaries to maintain their health and lifestyle as a form of appreciation for the Governor’s support.
Additionally, Mrs. Caroline Oguntola, the State Chairperson of the Retired Primary School Teachers Association of Nigeria (REPSTAN), praised Governor Abiodun for enhancing their monthly pensions and facilitating gratuity payments, while urging him to persist in his commendable efforts.
