The Nkoranza Municipal Peace Committee, chaired by Very Rev. Dr. Joe Eyison, on Saturday , 9th November, 2024, organized a peace walk to promote tranquility and stability in Nkoranza, in the Bono East region as Ghana prepares for its 2024 general elections.
This initiative, according to the committee aims to foster a culture of peace, positive tolerance, and coexistence among party and community members.
The peace walk was emphasized on seeking to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after the elections with the theme; Together we can build Ghana, so get involved.
The committee’s efforts focus on promoting nonviolent conflict resolution and encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote peacefully.
In an address to the members present, the chairman for the Nkoranza Municipal Peace Committee, Dr. Eyison said the peace walk was part of a broader national effort to ensure peaceful elections.
He therefore urged all stakeholders, including community leaders, youth groups, and citizens, to join hands in promoting peace and stability during this critical period.
“By working together, Ghanaians can ensure a peaceful and successful electoral process”, he said.
The Nkoranza municipal peace committee consists of Traditional leaders, Religious leaders, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the Media, and political leaders in the Nkoranza South municipality.
The peace walk featured impactful placards to remind readers about peace concise, amongst them includes; “peace is costly”, “we are not enemies”, ” together as one”, “Ghana is one”, ” value your life” and many more.
